Honda CRV Radio not Working

05/02/2014 3:19 PM

I have Honda CRV 1997 model with its original radio. The radio also has navigation system. The problem is that the radio is not working. I have checked all the fuses and they are fine. The cd system is operating but is not playing. Has someone has experienced the same issue? What was the solution?

A quick google search of your thread title , says you need to enter a code. Looks like it generally happens after you have disconnected the battery.

GA.

Seems straightforward enough.

Makes you wonder why they have this "feature".

It was once though to deter thieves......but it don't!!!

If it turns out to be actually defective, there are companies all over that repair them a lot cheaper than getting an exchange unit from Honda.....with guarantee....

If you still have the original Owner's Manual, a sticker on the front cover should have the 5-digit code.

Having been caught like this once, members may like to use this obvious trick.

Before disconnecting the original battery I connect in parallel another battery.
(it can be an old one as long as it has some charge) then, with this spare battery
connected to the battery power leads you can remove / re-charge (or do whatever)
to the original battery, e.g. insert a new battery, without losing the radio use.

I found this can be easier than trying re-install the code, even when it is available.

Hope this helps, jt.

I was telling a girl in the pub about my ability to guess what day a woman was born
just by feeling her boobs.
"Really" she said, "Go on then...try."
After about thirty seconds of delightful fondling she began to lose patience with me
and said. "Come on, what day was I born?"
I said, "Yesterday?."

That kind of defeats the purpose of/reason for disconnecting the battery.

Garages routinely disconnect the battery when they're working under the hood here. (but they still lay tools on top of the disconnected battery, go figure) Then they don't reset the clock or retune the radio station presets....grrr. That and altering the seat position....
