Copper to be used for a hybrid blast mitigation system

06/18/2007 8:21 AM

Am looking to find more information or contact that are experts in blast mitigation to provide information using the potential of copper plates for a hybrid composite panel system that would be able to act primarily to disperse the heat of the projectile (shaped charge) more evenly and would have then ultimately enhance the overall performance of the other composites used.

Ask for Tim Klopfenstein.

They make Perimeter Security Systems. They did a nice Blast Wall for me.

I would question the feasibility of a heat dispersion concept as it would relate to an EFP (Explosively Formed Projectile) if that is your goal. True, the projectile is hot, molten copper, but it seems to me that its velocity, from the shaped high explosive, would be so great that it would physically pass through and beyond the plates before significant heat could be dispersed.
