Diesel Engine Q?

06/22/2007 11:32 PM

Does anyone know what manufacturer makes/produces the smallest Diesel engine? Less than 500cc closer to 100 or less better.

1941 Lister Single Cylinder 'Cold Start' Diesel Engine 5-HP

3 3/4" Bore X 5 1/2" Stroke - Rated H.P. at 600 R.P.M. No longer made in GB but a knock off is made in India.

Next best bet would be a model airplane glow plug engine.

What is the application?

The range you are looking for are made mostly by Japanese manufacturers , mainly Yamaha and Honda. And they, I suppose serve you well. They also use use dual fuels(petrol-gasolene start-kerosene run). They also are quite affordable and reliable(user-friendly) especially if the purpose you are going to use them is as a stand-by generator. radirs@aol.in

At one time Mercedes-Benz made a very small diesel engine. When containers first appeared as shipboard cargo carriers, refriferated containers where fitted with refrigeration equipment powered by small diesel and/or propane fueled engines. Most of the diesel units [ as far I can remember] used in the early stages of containerized were made by M-B and were very efficent small units. Hope that helps

Very small diesel engines (<1 cu inch) are used in model planes. Look in a hobby catalog.
