Global Warming .....

06/24/2007 12:19 AM

Lot of discussions are going on in different media and forums for this Global Warming. Co2 is blamed for this global phenomena but could it be because of extra energy released by the earth crust it self, during earthquakes and movement of the crusts ? Since last 10 to 15 years very serious earthquakes have taken place at various places and if you have noticed it is happening on the Asiatic plate ranging from Japan to Pakistan and gulf countries. Even if Earth quake do not occur but when two gigantic plates are rubbing each other there is a tremendous frictional forces and amount of these this friction energy is converted into heat and released into atmosphere. Could this be the reason of global warming?

Any comments and your views ?

Good idea zankruti,

We need to become more aware of the extent (or to quantify the amount) of kJoules energy that is released into the atmosphere when such a seismic event occurs. How do we quantify such an event's energy released into the atmosphere to cause "global warming"? I saw a program on BBC on "Global Dimming", and I know there was much controversy about it, but I thought there were some very interesting points that we engineers are NOT talking about!
