How to Make Light Sensor Switch on Human Presence

I want to make such a system in my stairs that the light will turn on at human presence nearby, and turn off 30 seconds after the person leaves.

please show me the diagram with parts number about how to do it.

I did not get such things ready made at my locality.

Let me mention u other things that I want to have the circuit to be used in AC 220V power sourse.

So please let me know how can i make it?

A standard Pass Infrared (PIR) motion sensor (like you get in home burglar alarms) should do the trick. They are fairly cheap and easy to come by. You may need a separate timer however if you cannot find one with a built-in time delay function (normally the delay off is in the order of a few seconds).

I am shocked, truly shocked that you ask this question of us. You found CR4 all on your own but you cannot find any way to find a motion detector. You claim that you cannot get any parts in your locality but you fail to give us the slightest hint where you are. Did you know that most of the things you can find on the web can be delivered to you for a modest fee?

There are too many product online. And i am not sure which one of them can meet my requirments. That's why i was going to ask the specialist. I am in Comilla, Bangladesh. I recommend the first one because it will require the least amount of additional hardware for safe mounting. The nominal 220VAC 50HZ electric power can be lethal in many ways if improperly used. I recommend that you hire somebody to install these modules. If you're nice to them they may be willing to supervise you installing one so you could install them all.

The first IR Motion Sensor Light Switch should do the trick, as long as the light is between 25W and 100W.

Yes, I see them all the time at the local hardware store(s), don't even have to go to an electrical supply store. They even come with instructions for installation, now isn't that a novel idea!!

we regularly have students seeking project ideas......this would be a good one,how many ways to achieve the same result?. pressure switch, IR, etc.

Sounds like you want an outdoor motion sensor light. They can be bought for a nominal amount at our local home improvement store. I don't know if home improvement stores are available at your location.

No sir, home improvement stores are not available at my location.
i cant buy it online as my bank card doesn't allow transaction with the store out of our country Bangladesh.

Here is where cell phone money is a game changer. When I traveled in the South Pacific money could be sent from one person to the next via cell phone.

This would be a hugely enabling technology in terms of America being able to sell products to overseas customers. Folks like digikey could sell to anyone on the planet where there is interchange between the two postal services.

Buy one of these and call it a day. $40 at Home Depot. www.homedepot.com Leviton Decora PIR switch.
