Did you even Google the word annealing? Can't differentiate between the two as annealing is a heat treatment.

"Heat treatment" is any thermal process applied to a material (ie. a metal alloy) in order to make a permanent change to one or more of its its physical properties. These processes usually involve a phase change or change in the crystal structure of the material.

Annealing is one form of heat treatment used to soften or increase the ductility of a material.

Heat treatment = Pi$$ing people, wanting them to do your homework for you. They get Hot and Hard nosed about it. Annealing = someone being Soft Hearted and gives you the correct answer for your homework assignment.

You might also want to search the internet for "Ice Box Rivets" and why they are called that.
