Capabilty Machine to Drill 0.1mm Dia

05/31/2014 11:18 AM

Anyone can help me to advice what kind on machine can drill a hole of 0.1mm diameter hole (900 holes) with 0.25mm pitch between holes. Contact of machine supplier from Malaysia will be an advantage.

Why don't you, "Contact of machine supplier from Malaysia" yourself.

Or get the help of a "contract manufacturer".

DO A WEB SEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great. Now we know the material is a plastic of unknown chemistry and you want to chemically machine it.

I did not enjoy the game of 20 questions when I was a child. I still don't like it.

Do a web search. When you query Google, you get answers. When you come here, your query is likely to be met with hostility. A testament to the comparative usefulness of both sites?

Yes. Google will always give an answer. Google will not explain why the answer is useless.

Here, you also get useless drivel from idiots who add absolutely nothing of value, except worthless empty words.

Did you get your feeling hurt here sometime.

Something with a laser perhaps. Far too little information provided to do anything other than guess.

Yeah, that's what we should do. We will just guess how to cost effectively make some precision holes through half a meter of polycarbonate. Maybe it was one micron thick Kapton tape subjected to ten Newtons of tension.

I am a test socket manufacturer. This socket is using pogo pins s a contacter of power to supply to. The holes that the pogo pins are sitting into are at 0.10mm (0.0039")

I thought the test sockets were molded and had the holes molded at the same time rather than added later.

Can you not just get the correct sockets (or something really close, or even lots of sockets placed together to create one really big test socket) and then remove pins to create test socket(s) you need? That's what we do when we have to produce small production runs or special test jigs?

Putting holes in later yourself is going to be a real pain as tolerances are very important for a socket.

We manufacture the test socket for the customer required based on the package they have. We manufacture the complete test socket together with a hand clamp then ship to the customer used before they qualified the pcb in the handler machines for testing. The main issue here is we have been manufacture test socket for number of years with the pogo pins holes at 0.20mm and not to manufacture to 0.10mm is beyond the machine capabality in house. I am searching for type of PROCESS (machining/etched/mold etc) that can do this 0.10mm holes and 0.2mm pitch with 800-900 holes in a single plate.

Have you tried contacting the supplier or manufacturer of your existing machine? Perhaps they have something or can point you in the right direction to someone who can.

Do let us know how you get on in your search.

Previously we were using milling cnc to drill those hole at 0.29mm dia. With the recent demand, holes are are getting smallr and our machine capability are not to that high performance. We have contacted the machine salesman where they are proposing to get us purchase another machine wih better performance in term of latest techonology added in. These machine are 3-4 times expensive compared to ours now. That was the reason I brought this up to the group attention so that I can have a better options.

If your production run size is too small to warrant purchasing (or leasing) a new CNC machine you could contract the work out to a company that has such a machine and can do this particular job for you.

I don't understand why it takes 17 postings to get a clear indication of what Anonymous Poster no.1 actually wants. Why couldn't all this information appear in the original post?
