Different Between Flow Trap & Gully

06/04/2014 12:08 AM

Please help me

My domestic water tank is 2m x 2m x 2m = 8m³ volume. If i pierce for hole to the bottom of tank with F100mm, 0.1m, get the pressures is 2000kg/m², 0.196bar.

I want to know the velocity from this F0.1m hole.

Best regards

Dear all,

I want to know the different between flow trap & gully trap. I have seen in many drawing, the pipes come out from kitchen units are using to Gully trap and Toilet & shower units are using to Flow trap.

But, however i look the two equipments are same.

Velocity = CD*√(2*g*H) where CD = discharge coefficient, 0.62 for your case. H = head of fluid, 2m. I make velocity ~ 3.9m/s.

very thank for your answer,

but result of Mr DHAYANANDHAN.S and Mr. Satish Menon, is babout 5m/s. Moreover they are not use to "discharge coefficient" in this formula. I don't know, why?

Best regards

Discharge coefficient 0.62 is based on experiment. The actual discharge is 0.62* that calculated on theoretical velocity √(2*g*H) and full orifice area. The fluid jet has a diameter smaller than the orifice (the vena contracta) ~ 0.8*, and (~ 0.8)2 = 0.62. Flow of course proportional to dia2.
