Digital Photo Enhanced Printing

06/12/2014 6:51 PM

How can a digital photo displayed on a touch screen monitor be written and/or drawn on and then PRINTED with the enhancements being part of the photo? There are programs that you can use to write or draw on the displayed photo but can only e-mail or text the end result. Don't know how to actually print a photo after the text or art is added to the photo. Can't seam to figure this application out. Thank you Hook

GIMP is a free open source alternative to Photoshop. You can draw and overlay over images. There is a learning curve, but it is extremely powerful.

The basic Paint program that comes with Windows (look under Windows/Accessories) will let you do that. It's a very basic program - easy to use, but its editing capability is limited.

Adobe 'Elements' (also known as Photoshop 'Elements') is a much more powerful program, but also has a bit of a learning curve. Fortunately, there are a lot of YouTube videos that tell you how to get started with Adobe Elements.

There are also freeware programs you can find - just google for what you need.

The monitor is not the issue! Its the software.

First of all what system would be in use?

The viewing does not mean you can edit. So you have to load the picture in a program that shows the pic on the screen. Same program has to be able to allow editing via input at the touch screen. Usually all tablets will have a program that can do this.

Printing is then a matter of to get it to a printer.

way 1 - Save picture, put on USB stick, print at printer via USB port or transfer to computer with printer access. Use standard printing practice to print

way 2 - print via wireless or in the network. Printer software has to be installed and device needs to support this.

way 3 - photograph picture and use standard practice to print.

way 4 (my own personel preference - I am admittingly a non tablet user) tap touch screen on the upper right handside twice. Look for menu options. Tap "print" and off you go! Alternativly use the lower left hand corner or right. Dont use the left upper corner as this might get you into trouble.

Is the touch screen gas powered?

Good luck

If you don't need to do it often, just e-mail it to yourself then print the image you receive.

Thanks to everyone who responded to help me. Good ideas definetly came out. Envision a trade show type of atmosphere with a lot of photos being taken and customers coming to the monitor and leaving messages or info on there picture, leaving one for the vendor and taking one copy for themselves. So writing on the picture with the product and customer printing out the end result immediately. That has been the problem. Thanks for all the help. Hook

So writing on the monitor in real time would be great. The ipad would let you take the pic and write on it, but printing? not to a4 easily

The problem is the computer. Android and Ipad do not easily bond with printers. Many times it takes a separate computer tied to a printer to print to some printers. There are a few printers out there that have the capability to print direct from these tablets but it takes a bit of messing around. My old HP windows tablet has no problems printing to any printer, and I think the newer windows tablets can also from what I hear. The best way to print from an Ipad is to send it to a real computer and let that print it.
