I did my Diploma in Civil Engg in 1965 and have 40 + years of experience in the profession. May I be able to complete Bachelors Degree on line in India with credit transfer for experience.
I don't know about the credit transfer for experience, but I recently completed a Master of Engineering degree via distance from the University of Idaho through their engineering outreach program. Since my Bachelor degree is in Geology and Environemental Science, I had to complete many undergrad requirements prior to getting into the program. The only distance undergrad engineering program that I found was the University of North Dakota.
Most Civil Engineers in the United States are required to be licensed, unless you are working for someone else who is licensed, transferring credits from India probably will not be sufficient to get licensure. The credits need to be from an ABET approvded school.
If you want to complete a degree and work for other engineers, your proposal may be do-able. But if you want to be licensed, I would strongly suggest you call the Board of Registration in state you want to work and discuss your circumstances with them. Based on my understanding of NCEES's requirements to obtain a license, your proposed route may not hold water.
