Nickel Plating Surface

Hello everybody,

I have one problem with surface nickeling... we have a shape of a key to do a nickel coating, but unfortunately the nickel coating is not evenly added on surface

How to avoid this not evenly nickel plating on surface on material. Where can I learn about nickel coating? What are the most important parameters to be carefull with this process?

There are a number of steps to plating. Too many to school you in here.

Google "nickel plating". Pay special attention to current density in your studies. That is assuming that you are electroplating. Otherwise, you'll want to search for electroless nickel plating.

Or pay a plater to do it.

I would be very curious...

Is this in fact an operating key, or simply something shaped like a key?

"Based on Faraday's Law, conventional electrolytic Nickel plating of complex shapes can be very difficult and requires special anodes - (these anodes are very costly and difficult to make). Plating with electrolytic nickel can produce a wide range of plating thicknesses on a part that can have a negative impact on part performance. This is not the case with Electroless Nickel. In addition, there are no special fixtures required when plating with Electroless Nickel which significantly reduces tooling costs."
