Frozen Electric Door Lock

07/14/2014 1:11 AM

I have a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina 4 door. The front passenger door lock is frozen in the locked position. I have removed the inner door panel, but cannot open the door to remove the lock. The manual lock rod and door handle rod do nothing to free up the lock. The bolts holding the lock mechanizm are in the door 'edge' where the latch hits the striker post. Does anyone have any idea how to get this door open to replace the lock ??

You might have to hold the rod that goes to the lock in the up position while at the same time working the release latch mechanism....
