Internet Frustration

07/20/2014 4:06 PM

Hi guys,

It's been a while got sidetracked from engineering into retail

Anyway here's the question, every time i log onto "Internet explorer" I get "snapdo" which is starting to drive me mad!! even if I ignore it and type the address I want in the address bar it gives me suggested links to completely unrelated sites, tried to uninstall it, even looked in task manager to uninstall it from there, it doesn't show up.

Any help would be much appreciated before the laptop gets flying lessons out the window

Try Firefox or Chrome [my choice] instead. They are both free, safer, and more reliable browsers than Internet Exploder.

It sounds like you picked up a virus. The first thing I try is a computer restore to an earlier date than when the problem occured

Welcome to the cesspool of the Internet.

You have a Trojan or ad-ware virus. Good luck with fixing it.

You can try doing this: Remove Snapdo Tool Bar

Although I did not have this particular gem of a program invade my system, I did have something similar and nothing would purge it, so I pulled the whole Windows 7 drive and put in a new drive and reinstalled Windows. It was a total loss.

You really need to be extra careful what sites you visit on the internet and what you download. It is to the point where I am almost ready to pull the plug as the net gain versus loss is about zero now.

That may not work.

Many of these programs piggyback in on things you may have downloaded on something that you wanted.

OP'll have to find the offending program and remove it with un-install, or restore to an earlier version of your computer. Hopefully, they back up regularly.

It's getting harder to win this fight.

As companies make programs to root out the offending junk software, creators of this garbage just take it as a bigger challenge.

The anti-virus software is always in a reactionary mode and advances in ways to hide that garbage are always one step ahead and getting more and more difficult to root out as the level of sophistication increases.

As an example I had one trojan that I tried to scrub using multiple anti-virus programs and other manual techniques to no avail. It just kept coming back.

Since no actual data is stored on my Win 7 hard drive it was simpler to reinstall Windows on a cleaned reformatted to zero drive.

The whole thing is a waste of valuable time simply because some other twisted and talented people have nothing else to do with theirs.

Snap Do is from Resoft Ltd. It maybe published under the name Quick Knowledge. Look for these programs and uninstall them.

If you google Snap Do there are list of site in how to get rid of it.

This was the first of the list.

I hate those browser hijackers! I got one a while back, different name but same thing.

Maybe this will help:

This works well for removing everything, including the residual crap in your registry.
Once this is installed, go to your control panel and use the "powerful uninstall" option. It zaps the nasty stuff into oblivion.

Many thanks. What a great programme so easy to use, Couldn't find snapdo but did find Resoft ltd as the installer of "Shopping Helper" so got rid of that and the plugin.

Not sure it's worked completely I think I might have something else lurking in there. I'm getting annoying flashing adverts!! But I'll go through it again, once again many thanks.

Sure thing!

Try running this one too, and get rid of all your cookies. The free one works fine.

I ran into a rather unusual behavior from one of the browser hijackers recently.

It wasn't enough to uninstall it using Windows control panel. It gave itself a backup reinstall by providing a pointer to itself when the the browser started up.

I had to go into the desktop icon of my browsers, right click, select properties and look in the "Target" instructions for the startup. These hijackers are appending an install instruction to the end of the target instructions from a program they've put in the target folder.

Until you get rid of this instruction in all your browsers' startup properties it'll keep reinstalling itself.
