Yes. There is someone who can help. You need to be shadowing a qualified Electrician. That individual can show you what to do and the pass/fail boundaries.

I was taught as an apprentice was that the maximum leakage current was not to exceed 1/10000^th of the circuits FLC. A simple calculation gives the minimum acceptable resistance.

This calculation has now vanished from BS7671 in favour of a one size fits all global figure of 1MΩ.
Had I applied that to my work half the plants would have been condemned.

As Crabtree said, shadow a skilled tradesman if you really want to learn.
