I ran across this story on Mental Floss and thought others might find it interesting...

Exactly.

I loved my first job. I was an R&D tech at a startup and had a great boss. For a split second I was startled when he stopped by my bench to hand me my first paycheck. I was having so much fun that I had completely forgotten that I was getting paid for this. The pay was just icing on the cake.

A red stapler wasn't part of this story? I'm shocked.

This is my thought. If I could go a year without a paycheck in California during that time, then who wouldn't want to fill their downtime.

Well, according to the United States Department of Labor, the amount of unemployment applications filed dropped by 6,000. That is consistent with other recent reports that indicate a modest growth in the nation's hiring. Unemployment eventually will cause the nation's decline economically. People might as well need quick cash to start with. It's hard to deal with unemployment especially when the cost of living and some other expenses are high.
