How are the motors are rated? Voltage/amp draw etc.

From that, just do the numbers for the selected devices.

Lightning arresters are for what purpose?

Is 30 V, 8 A gonna get you 1/3 hp?

The ice is made from soft water.

It's up to OP to run the numbers.

Here in Pittsburgh, we got an old guy in the park who runs an ice cart that says, "since your dad was a boy." It uses a single 1/4 hp to shave the ice. Before you ask, a person could do 1/2 hp, but the old guy spends half of his energy chatting. Why use a motor anyhow? Just hire five students - one of them would surely find an app for that.

You seem to be talking about a pair of 240 watt panels for a maximum total of 480 watts. In an ideal location, you can point them directly at the sun for about ten hours during the summer. That makes 4800 watt-hours, a very optimistic estimate. Your batteries will store 6 volts x 4 batteries x 225 ampere-hours, or 5400 watt-hours, also very optimistic. An electric horsepower can be considered at 750 watts, so one-third hp can be thought of as 250 watts, or 500 watts for two motors, or about nine hours of continuous running from solar input alone. Get realistic and figure 4-5 hours use with both motors running. There are losses from the panels to the batteries, and losses from the batteries to the (unmentioned) inverter to the motors. But four hours is a lot of shaved ice. Is the generator really an inverter?

If you discharge the batteries fully each day, they'll fail in about two weeks, so you need to charge them at home at the end of the day.

If you are asking for permission to buy the PV system, you have my blessing. The question is, what color should the cart be, and if you find a bug in your cart, should you call your daughter and ask her to apply to law school? The must be an answer, but I am truly stumped.
