CDF Of An Induction Motor

09/17/2014 7:00 AM

Hi,

What is the CDF (Cyclic Duration Factor) of an induction motor? If the required capacity is 5 kW - what is the capacity in kW after taking into consideration of say 40% CDF?

Regards,

Motors are designed for particular applications. If motor is running in cycle i.e 4 minutes running time and 6 minutes rest then it is called 40% CDF motor. The duty cycle is 10 minutes. There are many applications where such cyclic duty exists. Some are 40%, some 60%, some 100%. For selecting motor you should know your cyclic duty requirements.

IEC 60034-1 ch.3.11 cyclic duration factor:

"the ratio between the period of loading, including starting and electric braking, and the duration of the duty cycle, expressed as a percentage"

There are 10 duty types. In order to calculate the rated power from CDF you have to precise the duty type and all other necessary data [Jm,Js ,ΔtD , ΔtP and so on]
