Panel Board

09/30/2014 1:46 AM

Dear All,

For our temporary facilities, we have the following load:

3 circuits for lighting ( Each circuit has 11 x 0.5 KVA=5.5 KVA lighting load)

3 Power Circuits (Each circuit would provide 6 KVA Power)

Blasting Machine: 225 KVA

Plazma Cutting Machine: 47 KVA

Overhead Crane 20 MT= 33 KVA

I plan to use a generator of 625 KVA. Now for panel board, I want to put them all in a single board. It is alright to do so? I mean 225 KVA in the same board as 6 KVA lighting circuit? As for local code, believe me, no one in here really cares about it.

Thanks!

Just because no one seems to be concerned about the electrical code does not give permission to ignore it.

Hire a qualified electrician who knows what the code requires.

Good policy. Otherwise the original poster might become very unpopular with her fire and employee liability insurance companies!

I have gone back and looked at your past questions.

EVERY ONE of them demonstrates a complete ignorance of electricity.

I'm surprised that you are still alive, and even more surprised that you have a job!

You are a menace to those around you.

I suggest that forum members never answer any questions posed by you.

As for local code, believe me, no one in here really cares about it.

Until something happens (accident, fire, audit, etc) and then believe me people will care and look at every one and everything involved very carefully. When they find out what you are doing and that you are not qualified to do it, oh boy.

What, you really think your boss (or however thinks it's all right for you to be doing what you are doing) is going to take the fall for you if something happens?

Based on your previous comments on CR4 please stop what you are doing and hire a qualified electrician.

Dear Mr.smi1989,

Technically the answer for your point is Yes and O.K., You can do it. But the local code is to be taken care.

That doesn't absolve you of liability if it goes wrong and kills someone.

Hi,

Code or no code aside, fall back on sound principles of protection and safety. Why worry about putting all in a single board as long as the board is constructed with due consideration to (1) overcurrent and earth fault protection (protection relays, circuit breakers, etc) (2) current loading (busbar & earth bar sizing) (3) prospective fault current (4) ingress of moisture, dust (IP rating)....Having said these, however, best practice does dictate that lighting & power circuits be supplied from a separate consumer panel drawn from this board.

Best regards.
