Which do you think is better, and why?

Cite the local and national codes you use to make your decision.

It is preferred that only people authorized and knowledgeable in the regional codes of power distribution work on voltages this high.

If your interest is only informational-that means you don't intend to order the cables, not to design the raceway or to run the cables-then in order to receive an answer- except the reference to the local electric code-you need to state a lot of parameters. For instance how you intend to layout the cables: in cable tray, in underground free buried, in cable duct bank or other. Also the installation cost vs. cable cost is important-mainly if it is a long raceway. And more other...

Maybe it's an interview question.

OP said 150m.

Thank you, lyn.In my opinion,in a trench run the installation of 3 core cable will not differ from installation of three single-core cable. But to pull a 3*400 sqr.mm[3*800 MCM] cable in a cable duct bank it is a tough job [in my opinion, even for 150 m].

Come on now gets, this is way old technology, Cables? 3 Core or 3 singes cores? Come now chaps. This is not cricket.

That voltage? Perfectly safe to Bluetooth over that distance. Why bother to excavate trenches and bother about cables. This is line-of-sight-distance, Bluetooth is just perfect.

You really think that one can Bluetooth 33,000 volt power distribution power? Since when has Bluetooth had a 150 meter range, too?

I'll assume that you were joking and forgot to post some emoticons.

My, my, we have advanced. It was done in 1900

Its old technology. It was just bigger then, now we have tiny devices to Bluetooth it anywhere. 33kV, 0r 33 000 volts, 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, no bother these days and a 150m is a walk in the park, line-of-sight, so to speak. Probably for this lad it is called Plug-n-Play but for me that is a busbar. ( Just for you sir)

Same page RedFred, I needed to have a smile. How is New York today? Busy as normal? Or are you off to the beech?
