Please describe

  • the materials of construction of the pipe
  • the method of connecting the pipe lengths together
  • the contents of the pipe, its temperature and pressure
  • the environment within which the pipe is installed

Yes. Standards vary depending on application and country, as no useful information has been provided try an internet search on one of the many standards websites (the standards are not free however).

Standards and codes of practice all agree on Rule #1.

Rule #1. Don't use plastic pipe!

Not twice in one night!

I'm having a discussion (argument) with a guy in the UK who's wanting the use plastic for a biomass blowing line.

The supply of fools will always outstrip the demand for them.

That's also way one should never argue with them in public. Onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.

In my opinion the grounding connection could be tested following general requirement for welded [brazing or pipe clamp] connection test and grounding continuity test.

There are some standards recommending pipe grounding as the following:

IEEE Std 665-1995 IEEE Guide for Generating Station Grounding

Ch.5.7.2 Buried welded piping: gas, fuel oil, or water

Ch.5.7.3 Buried cast-iron and ductile-iron piping

IEEE Std. 80-2000 Ch. 17.9.5 Piping
