High Voltage S/d of Generator Due to Mist

12/06/2014 11:53 AM

Dears, Have a nice day,

We face a frequent problem in stand alone generators represented in High voltage S/D during mist.

This problem is occurred frequently and cause a lot of tripping of generators, If Over voltage protection failed to trip generator the exciter is defected (get open Cit).

We even try to get enclosure with high IP and problem still existed.

So, Kindly I need help to overcome this problem of generator because it causes us a big headache

Can you describe how you think moisture leads to over voltage?

You need to get us more information on how the generator trips.

Do you measure Amperage at all? What are the loads?

More information needed.

during moisture the voltage is rised on the terminals of generators which may be 600Volt if the O.V protetction isn't activated the excitor or rotating diodes get gefected.

The load Ampere didn't affect this problem

Thanks.

Please provide more data. For instance, by mist are you referring to high humidity? Above 90% perhaps? Are you using these generators in a condition for which the manufacturer has stated that it should not be used?

As always, it is best to ask the original manufacturer. They may have some special treatments for making certain circuits more water proof.

Also, please do not use abbreviations if you know what they are. I presume S/D could mean shut down? It is just a guess. What does IP mean? These are not always universal.

English (the American version) has too many abbreviations already. It also has too many meanings for the same word and various meanings depending on how it is used or where it appears in a sentence. I find that I must be very careful when writing in an e-mail. It can be difficult to be precise and nice at the same time.
