Impulse Purge for Pressure Transmitter

We are tapping process line ( Air) to absolute pressure transmitter, but we are getting an impulse purge air line via variable rotometer and joins via Tee union through pressure transmitter. Why impulse purge line is required..??

Normally purge is used if the impulse tube can get plugged by dirty fluid.

The purge fluid must be compatible with the process.
