No, those guys are master illusionists, it is your brain that temporarily suspends disbelief to allow you to "believe" that what you "see" is real.

I prefer the Penn and Teller show Fool Us. They never explain to the audience how a trick was performed but they were almost never fooled how a trick was performed. I remember a quick change couple that Penn applauded their exceptional skills at performing a well known (to magicians) trick that baffled me.

I believe they showed how they were able to run over Teller with a bus.

Yes, I was imprecise in my comment.

Penn and Teller would occasionally show how some of their own tricks on the show were done but with complete professional respect for the contestants they would never fully explain how a contestant performed their trick. They would use apparently well known magician's terminology without going into details to prove to a contestant that they were not fooled. There were a few contestants that succeeded in fooling them. I remember one time of Penn going through a list of terms with one contestant that he repeatedly denied were how the illusion was performed. Eventually Teller got up and whispered into the contestant's ear a few alternative ideas. The contestant said no to the audience these unheard techniques, too. Then he whispered into Teller's ear and Teller's mouth dropped. Teller then signaled to Penn that they were fooled and this contestant had won.
