Replace the ring gear.

If there is, say, a magnetic sensor involved, it may have come loose and farther away from the gear teeth. If so, this can be easily adjusted.

1- Call Caterpillar - http://www.cat.com/

2 - Look in the maintenance/users manual.

The ECM is sensing either too many teeth on the ring gear or it is sensing not enough teeth on the ring gear.

Either the sensor is faulty or it is misaligned or some of the ring gear teeth are missing/broken.

You must inspect the ring gear and react accordingly.

If your ring gear sensor is magnetic type check to see if there is any FE debris on it. It can happen over time.

Thanks everyone for your contribution. The magnetic pickup sensor was faulty.

First confirm how many teeth there should be. If there should be more, then the ring gear probably needs replacing or your sensor's input was impeded for some reason, so you need to do maintenance on the sensor. You will need the mnftrs info on the sensor, before you start stripping!
