Paralleling of 66KV Line

01/08/2015 8:52 AM

One line comming from 220/66kv Subsation and Other comming from 132/66kv Sustation both parelleling done at 66kvsubstation when the single line is in service total load is 158Amp after paralleling with the other line the the load bifurcation is 136.64Amp and 60.17Amp = 196Amp which is more than the actual load whats the cause affected

Before parallel data:66.61kv,158.06A,17.02MW,0.95 P.F.,

After parallel data:

Line:1 from220/66kv SS : 66.5kv,136.64A,12.04MW,0.78 P.F.,

Line:2 from132/66kv SS : 66.5kv,60.17A,4.90MW, -0.74 P.F.(-ve),

Still sounds like a homework problem.

You have asked this question before. The answer is the same.

There is one little addition from before. This time the power factor numbers are included. I'll give the OP a big hint on this homework problem. The sign of the power factor means what?

"...whats the cause affected...", a lack of understanding of basic electrical power math. You cannot use algebra to add vector quantities, you must know both the magnitude and the phase angle of the quantities involved (phase amps here); i.e., 136A + 60A does not equal 196A unless they are in phase, otherwise your answer is always wrong.

Go back to a basic AC Circuits textbook to learn more.

Jagdish Rathod,

Load seems to be approximately same, looking at the kW figures. Currents indicate that there is VAR flow from 132/66kV substation to 220/66kV substation via your 66kV bus.
