Atlas Copco Air Compressor VSD30 Issue

01/13/2015 8:12 AM

I have purchase Atlas-Copco VSD30 air compressor three months before . It has inbuilt air dryer. since from commissioning the dryer PDP temperature is 7 to 8 deg. It is not coming down even at 45% load. I'm in touch Atlas-copco team but they are not responding well. Air dryer all parameter are okay. what could be the reason fro dryer PDP temp high.

Is the unit air cooled or water cooled?

This is what you mean right?

If there something hot, then there is a source.

Typically not air cooled.

You must trace along the path of no return--

What PDP did you expect ?

Do you have a refrigerant type dryer or a dessicant type ?

Did you purchase a new system or a used system ?

If you purchased a used system with a dessicant dryer, did you replace the media prior to use ?

Why did you expect the PDP to vary with compressor load ?

Please answer some of these questions instead of ignoring them....

PDP I want is 2 deg. C, yes dryer is refrigerant type. it is new system. not expecting to very PDP on compressor load, but even 40% load it is giving desired PDP. as load increase PDP reached @ 10 to 12 deg c

2 deg C, its almost freezing at atmospheric pressure, what the heck do you want to have it that way?Does the manual tells you so?

Water in air when pressurized increases boiling point temperature. Therefore, @ 10~12 deg C, its already condensed far more, may be solid to some extent. -- Are you kidding me?

I AM NOT KIDDING MR. NOUDGE.

we are getting 2/3 deg temp at adjutant compressor. i.e. for moisture free air.

What is AC's design PDP? It is commonly about 3 - 4 degC. What refrigerant does the system use and what is the evaporator pressure?

How are you measuring the dewpoint?

By thermometer at the lowest temperature of the air inside the pipe.

By contact thermometer on the outside of the pipe.

By suction pressure gauge gauge.

By sample of outlet air using hygrometer.

Have you checked temperature of cooling water supply to coolers, I mean in terms of flowrate & temperature. In our process industry single cooling tower give supply to many hydronic systems, so when we utilise it at many places simultaneously flowrate suffers...
