GE 752 Field Weakening

01/15/2015 8:30 AM

Hi.

Does anyone have experience with field weakening on ge 752 (older version 600kW, not high torque)?

In motor specs there is stated 2300rpm as maximum permissible speed. So I want to know limitations at that speed.

Is permissible continuous armature current lower than nominal? Do you maybe have torque-speed chart for speed over nominal, or you know where can I find it?

Thank you in advance.

No joy over the phone to the motor manufacturer then, Murphy?

On a low torque motor the power factor is extremely critical.

If you weaken the field too much the motor will lose HP/torque causing overload and/or possible motor winding damage.

You can experiment by making very small adjustments while observing the stator amperage but you must allow adequate time between adjustments to fully observe the affect(s) and you must be certain the motor is mechanically at full load as far as the application is concerned.

GE still provides excellent field service technicians to help address these types of questions.

I am aware of loosing torque. I am ok with that, because now i have multiplicator which rise 1050 rpm from motor to 2100 rpm after it (so torque after multiplicator is 2 times smaller than on motor shaft). Now I want rise rpm of motor to get rid of multiplicator, and I want to know do I still have 600kW avaliable on 2200 rpm. Better spoken, can motor on 2200rpm still work with nominal current?
