DC Drive Software Version Problem

Dear Sir,

We have 56KW Mentor II DC Drive & Trying to purchase one refurbished drive from one supplier with very good price. The only one confusion between both drive is software version. Please advice is it OK or we need to upgrade first??

EXISTING DRIVE SOFTWARE VERSION 05.05.00

REFURBISHED DRIVE SOFTWARE VERSION 05.02.00

Any DC Motor can work with any version of drive, you need to tune/calibrate it.

Buying a refurbished 56kw drive? You have to be kidding - just buy a new drive, re-use the existing cabinet and breakers etc.

(IMHO - ABB DCS800 has to be one of the best, Powerflex DC well behind in the race. We use both depending on customer preference.)

I am talking about if someone using two different version drives with own machines & replacing one by one as spare point of view??? please share your experience? otherwise i will ask to emerson

It may or may not work. It's unlikely (tho' not impossible) that someone may stumble on this thread who has had exactly those drives with exactly those software versions, and so can give you an experience-based reply. Personally, I wouldn't hold my breath - I suggest again that you contact Emerson. You'll almost certainly get a quicker and more reliable result.

Many drives with software in flash memory can be updated quickly and easily by downloading the new version from the manufacturer - if this is the case, it would only take minutes, and eliminate doubt.

you can remove the existing DC Drive EEPROM and fix it into the replaced unit. This comes from an Emerson source in India ..
