I'm amazed at the pattern of lights at 43/44 seconds.

Amazing!

I wonder how close you would have to be to the earth to see these, at least with human eyes.

I recall seeing a documentary on some other planet or moon that had lightning but I can't remember which one.

The location at 45 seconds appears to be Illinois. You can see Lake Michigan and Chicago on its banks, just past this you can see Lake Erie. The ISS is heading West to east with the field of view pointing North East.

Very awesome view indeed!
