Dear All,

Please help me to decide drain outlet temp. of Gland Steam Condenser for following parameters:

Shell side Medium & Flow : Steam-75.6 Kg/hr/Air- 43.2 Kg/hr

Pressure to be maintained in GSC : 0.95 Kg/cm2 abs

Inlet Steam Temperature to GSC : 250 deg.C

Drain Outlet Temp. = ?

Cooling water / DM Water : Condensate from CEP

Quantity : 86.01 TPH

Inlet Water Temperature : 46.63 deg.C

Outlet Water Temperature ?

Water Pressure : 12 Kg/cm²

Heat load?

Volume Flow, Fan, m3/s ?

Kindly help me to solve this problem.

What you need is a set of steam tables, Mildred.

I am curious about why you want this temperature ? Gland steam condenser outlet temperature will vary with steam turbine performance and with the degree of gland steam labyrinth wear. If the machine is old, and there has been no maintenance, a worn labyrinth is indicated by steam blow by and higher condenser pressures.

If you can get the TEMA (or similar) datasheet for the unit, you should be able to develop drain temperatures for off-design conditions

If there is a power plant Heat Balance available, the design point temperature for the GSC should be there
