BS and ISO

is BS 4772 and ISO 2531 the same ? Can one be substituted for the other ?

Yes but, BS has left hand threads and ISO has right hand threads. The Brits always do everything backwards.

They drive on the wrong side of the road and call trucks by a girl's name.

They differ in detail, but are the same in principle, but not in practice anymore because BS 4772 has been superseded and withdrawn, and replaced by BS ISO 2531:2009
