A Heavy Duty Dose of Daily Life

07/10/2007 8:26 AM

In our society, we seem to be surrounded with "heavy duty this" and "super duper that" versions of every product on the market. So why do we have to settle with wimpy personal communication devices, like cell phones and PDA's that are just so-so in regards to their ability to absorb the abuses of daily life? This article tells the story of some ill fated devices and offers a few possible heavy duty solutions.

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Shock, Vibration & Noise, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Shock, Vibration & Noise today.

It's the perfect marketing tool.

If it didn't break, I'd never buy a new one.

If it broke on it's own, I'd be upset with the manufacturer.

If it breaks because I dropped it on the sidewalk - I have no one to blame but myself, and I buy another one.
