Protecting Intellectual Property from Theft in China

The USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) will host a free two-day seminar for businesses executives on July 23-24, 2007 in Philadelphia, to provide helpful information on how to protect their companies from intellectual property theft in China. China was the number one source of counterfeit products seized by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol in 2006, accounting for 81 percent of all seizures last year.

I have tried this, protecting property rights and patents, in the end it is expensive and in most of the world unenforcable in any real terms. This doesn't mean that we must give up, a simple establishment of property rights at a good lawyers office is worth the money.

If manufacture sources are clever enough to design their products in compliance to some global standards, they must be clever enough to design proper protection to their products.

Expecting cooperation from unwilling parties is plain dumb.

You don't hope for freedom from piracy, you fight for it to-win.
