Protective Storage for Blueprints and Rolled Documents

03/03/2015 6:06 PM

Can storing blueprints and other rolled documents be difficult? We manufacture a triangular plastic storage tube that can store rolled documents, posters, blueprints, etc. while keeping 3 corners of the inside vacant and allowing easy access to the rolled contents inside, unlike a circular storage tube. The triangular storage tube can not be dented or crushed, keep the documents safe from any damages. The tubes can also be stacked and easily shipped. Is this something that is needed in the Engineering Marketplace?

What's a blue prince?

I think you are a little behind the curve here.

IF I were forced to work with paper documents of a large size, I'd store them in a flat file.

That is, IF I were forced to work with paper documents of a large size.

I'd send them out and have them scanned to a DVD.

Not to my knowledge, no.

Digital images are neither flat nor round (wink, wink).

Years ago aerospace industries moved from round storage to flat storage for two reasons: (1) to keep drawings from becoming permanently "curled" and (2) to consume less physical storage space.

I cannot think of any reason to store (and it is primarily store, not transport here) documents rolled up as opposed to flat.

A product with no market. Someone didn't do their research.

Well, there USED to be a market, but it's pretty much long gone now.

If only Rhinotube had realized that their dock fenders could be used as shipping tubes back when there was a market for that. But instead they waited until their primary customers (boat dock owners) are getting 'overly frugal' before they start to branch out to find new customers.

How does that phrase go? Too little, too late.
