Problem with Ordering Online

03/04/2015 6:16 PM

"It has to do with your internet provider (Claro) You must be physically ordering within the same country that is listed as your billing address. For example, you must physically be using a computer in Peurto (sp on the company's part) Rico. If the shipping address is in Puerto Rico. As it stands, both Paypal, our credit card processing company and our web server is saying this is not the case, and the order cannot be completed as is."

The above response is what I get after talking to the tech support folks at the company in question. I've been unable to find another company with an equivalent product.

I have tried both Paypal, and direct payment with the same result. I have contacted my ISP, AOL, Paypal and my bank. All concur, the addresses are correct, (there is money in the bank) and my computer is located near the shipping and billing address. I have used Paypal to purchase other items from other vendors with no issues. I have tried using a "pad" iPhone and another computer, all with the same results. The Iphone uses AT&T the others Claro DSL Any guesses as to what to try next? A neighbor has ordered from the same company with no issues, I'm thinking of just asking him to order for me.

Are they saying your internet IP address doesn't match the country you are sending the request from? If so it sounds like a security issue problem.

Are you using an IP hider or changer?

You mention Claro but also AOL, are you actually living in and posting from Puerto Rico?

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes, they are saying my IP doesn't match my alleged physical address. I went to Google and entered what is my IP? I used a speed test and it confirmed a server in a neighboring town. Claro states that is a valid PR address. I called AOL (I contact the company using AOL) and they confirmed it is a PR address. I went on AOL to my account and it is correctly listed. To the best of my knowlege I'm not using a hider, or changer (how would I tell? Windows 7 using basic Avast as my security). And yes I live and post in PR.

Strange. Sounds like you have enough info to go back to the company and see if you can narrow down what piece of location information doesn't match, perhaps then you can get whoever is involved (Claro, etc) talking to them on your behalf.

If your neighbour is willing perhaps it would just be easier to get them to buy instead.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to go to option 3, (the neighbor). At this point their tech support won't even respond. I've placed two phone calls with no call back. I'll try another bank next week. They have been unable to tell me or won't tell me what country I'm supposedly I'm online from.

I'm reluctant to resort to snarky comments, but one never knows.

If this is the only problem you have had, keep it simple and go through your neighbour, you don't want to cause more problems for yourself pointing out someone has an error in their database.

It doesn't exactly qualify for a GA but it just hit me how great a screen name "snarky comments" would be.

I didn't mention, I also used my Iphone to place an order, using AT&T which should appear as a completely different IP or whatever you call a "smartphone" address is. I got the exact same "unable to process message". I don't really think it is on my end, and as of this AM, no further response from this company.

Sounds like your records have not been properly updated..... Looks like they have a non-existent country listed as your home planet....Peurto Rico

Thanks. I checked, the spelling mistake is only on their reply.

I found a phone number on line, and a voice answers using the name of the company's owner. Paulspottery, the answering machine voice says this is Paul). At any rate, even though the recording says he'll call back, he hasn't.

Do you have your location set correctly in "region and language settings" (or equivalent) on each of your devices?

(Just a long shot).

Thanks to all. I guess I'll have to retrace my steps and look further for the parts. This fellow had everything in one place, offered good tips and was reasonably priced. Too bad his IT staff wasn't up to his standards. Probably a brother in law.

It may be that your IP is using a Proxy Server.

It appears the company you are attempting to purchase from has their security settings set on "very high."

I suggest you contact the owner(s) directly, state your issues, ask for a solution, and provide whatever documentation and certifications are required to solve the problems.

I haven't a problem with that at all, but don't waste my time telling me they are going to get to the bottom of this. As of yesterday no snarky comments.

I went back on line, in the past 6 months, other suppliers have picked up. Using this companies part numbers, I have been able to find all but one item at better prices. I will use them to download specs and schematics and get my neighbor to order a quantity of this one part. Everyone is a winner.
