Calculation Of Welding Consumables

hi,

I am working in Abu dhabi in multi national company as a welding supervisor.

I jusy want to know whats the easy way to calculate consumable at pipe welding.

for example,8" GTAW/SMAW how I know how much consumable I need.

Volume of the weld including root and cap x length of the weld. Include a fudge factor for rod stubs.

How long have you been a "Welding Supervisor"?

Consumable calculation is something you should be able to do as an apprentice!

Look it up in your welders handbook!

I guess it's true what they say. Those who can't, Supervise!

its doesn't matte that from how long I m supervisor..?i have calculations but I want to know more methods therefore I ask this question. Anyway thanks for reply.

Get some pieces of pipe. Weigh them. Give two to each of your welders. Have them weld them. Weigh the welded assemblies.

If you can't figure it out from there, you should be sweeping the floor instead.
