The Mathematics of Beauty

11/18/2009 4:40 PM

Beauty – both in humans and in nature – is based upon a ratio. Plants, animals and humans grow according to precise mathematical laws. Flowers don't unfold in "beautiful" patterns by chance. Rather, their development is based upon a geometrical ratio - 1:1.618.

I agreed on the PHI thing, its cool, but i wouldn't exactly go citing the Da Vinci Code as any sort of reference material on the matter, as its just fiction and made up things that have the PHI relationship. Kind of like quoting the bible as proof that you can actually feed thousands of people with just a couple of fish and some bread.

For this and many other reasons, i wouldn't read the Di Vinci Code. (It robbed me of 3 days of my holidays 3 years ago. )

From what you stated about the Bible, it is proof that God can feed thousands of people with just a couple of fish and some bread, but man is not. Man can not do anything without the power of God present.

Golden ratio, very used by the ancient Greeks; no need to read The Da Vinci code.

"Man can not do anything without the power of God present." Do assassins, pedophiles and terrorists count?

Oh wait, maybe they are just using their freedom of will according to God's plan; in order for them to find the truth and find grace in regretting what they did, so any damages caused by them are negligible compared to the salvation of their precious soul.

The Bible says that even King Nebuchadnezzar was a servant of God and he was the brutal and tyrant king of Babylon that took Isreal captive. God uses all for his purpose and his purpose will only be revealed unto those that except Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and stand before him in Heaven. If all of the world wouldn't be turning so far away from God there may not be the assassins, pedophiles and terrorists that exist for the work of the devil today.

Well no, YOU couldn't feed thousands of people with just a few fish and some bread, but Jesus did. That you can take the Bible's word on.

1:1.618 is also called the "Golden Ratio." It is built into the warp and the woof of the created universe.

We cannot help but notice that there is an underlying order - and beauty - to the Universe. That order, seen in this very special ratio, argues like a defense attorney laying forth his evidence, for an Order-Giver. We might strain against the logic of that, but no "da Vinci code" fiction can argue it away.

That "Order-Giver" is the pre-existent God who spoke all things into existence. This is much more satisfying explanation of origins than that from nothing came everything. His fingerprints are all over His creation.

they say one picture is worth 1000 words so . . . This picture is made to the ratio of 1:1.6 ( easier to mount, mat and frame this way for instance 10x16 print or 15 x 24 print .
