Geothermal energy, a promising but increasing controversial type of alternative energy, is on the hot seat again, this time in a German town that experienced an earthquake that some are blaming on the local geothermal power plant. Well, then. Let's go back to burning coal. Sheeesh.

How 'bout some more nukes?

Some people are never happy (unless we're headed back to the Dark Ages).

Never mind trying to determine what triggers earthquakes is tough enough considering we can't even determine when they will occur. Perhaps you could look at this from another angle: Maybe this process is s-l-o-w-l-y releasing tension in the strata and they could be preventing a much larger quake from happening in the future?

I am owner of a geothermal company based in Canada... I hear what you are saying... I think it is just crazy that people are thinking that way. They have been digging for coal for ages and that has done nothing... I doubt that geothermal caused an earth quake... that just sounds nuts to me.
