Just in time for the holiday blizzards, a little piece of nano-engineering to amuse snowbound citizens.
David Cox, a scientist in the Quantum Detection group at the National Physical Laboratory in the United Kingdom has built the world's smallest snowman. Its head and body are made from two tiny beads welded together with a speck of platinum. He used a beam of ions to carve out the eyes and smile. A small blob of platinum makes up the nose.
