Moon Possibly Formed by Natural Nuke: Study

The moon could have been born from a blob of the Earth's mantle, blasted outward by the explosion of a runaway nuclear geo-reactor, a new study claims. If correct, it would replace the scientifically accepted model for the origins of the moon, known as the "giant impact theory."

Highly improbable.

While the component isotopes collected, they would decay in a sub-critical reaction well before any explosion reaction was likely. Look at the trouble humans take to make an explosion, with very fast switches and high explosive compaction.

Hmmm, you make an interesting point...but I still am not sure about either side of this one. I know!! Let's tie a rope to the moon, then bring it down and investigate!
