Reason to Keep the Curtains Closed

Posted March 06, 2010 8:15 AM by Sharkles

A famous Manhattan hotel is defying traditional hotel design by replacing walls with transparent glass. Privacy is "optional" since anything that goes on in any given room can be viewed from the outside. The clear "water white," floor-to-ceiling glass walls are making quite a splash among hotel designers and gossip columnists all around the globe.

If you are a nudist or exhibitionist or just plain hot stuff, it might be reason to throw the curtains open. Might even spark some additional love life among the outsiders.

It happens. NYC needs to be NYC. Some crazy girls there. I was an unprepared Boy Scout. Had a friend from New Zealand had stories brought tears to my laughing eyes.

Gottah say Civilization can be a show. A show never to be seen except by you.

If I'd touched the curtain, or turned around once on the roof, well it wouldn't have happened. My life would be poorer, for a memory makes a soul.

Some screamers want the window open...

Some girls want the windows open...

Architects and engineers building glass walled voyeur exibitionists towers tacitly allowing for sights in the city is understandable to me.
Remember the wife who asked me if her husband ever spoke of their sex life, and when I said "No.", she hit him.

I am not a nudist or exhibitionist, but some girls were hot stuff, and unreasonable, and had one that had a streak of exhibitionism, and was hot as they get.

Not surprised that now that the City is all run up rich and nobody else they build a glass building made to watch walking, or from the other towers with the binoculars or telescopes.

Did you know more telescopes get sold in Manhattan than anywhere else?

Do you think these are for astronomy?

Even your wife wants to be noticed.

The City has a pulse and everything that happens there is a measure of where the world is.

This is an interesting building that reminds me of roof nights with hot girls on sweet nights moist and fine in a world of artificial light and dim far away stars too bright to be denied.

I'm pretty protective and shy myself, but I've been around the block and drunk or sober have to say that they build and make time interesting in some of the unique buildings of NYC.

Sort of sad really that the thing is recognizable as a particularly odd focus, for really the random totality of the City is what was fun about the place.

Then again that is wrong for I did discover that while every thing was there, it wasn't everywhere, but only in certain neighborhoods.

The sort of glass they are talking about has been around for awhile.

Its most common use that I know of is for separating the back staff in TV news rooms from the speaking staff.

There must be some meaning to that.

Sure enough it is an interesting building for out times.

Wow, now when police see what looks like a crime, they can shoot first and ask questions later! So much for designing to prevent global warming.

Since you are not making sense yet, I won't either. Shoot first? Shoot at whom, for what? Standing in the window? Later questions? "Why did you shoot at the person?" - "Your honor, I could see them." - "I'm confused. What justified your shooting?"

"Your Honor, they were naked in their glass place, and showing off."

"They may have been in a glass house showing off, but this is a minor crime and may sometimes be committed by the insane or demented."

"Still your Honor don't you agree that such behavior is terrible and awful and must be stopped with all the immediate power of the police, us armed protectors of the visual world wherein now it is not good if people see anything that is not censored prior to our viewing as is the customary way of viewing the world given to us by editors of the television which is the place we need to look to for all information and experience of the world?"

"The court allows that it is important that no one see anything that is uncensored and agree that TV ought to be the main source of stimulius for normal people and only endorses certain channels which are not peopled by adult people doing private things in buildings where there used to be decorium and lots of dead cow carrcasses ready to eat after cooking."

"Thanks."

Before you rocket yourself into insanity, let me explain. The first sentence was intended to be humor (apparently unsuccessful). The second sentence was unrelated to the first. I was reminded of the man who was arrested for being naked in his own house (see here). I think this would not happen in new York. Police have shot many people without a good reason.

"Shoot at whom, for what?"

At the man who is about to commit rape. Can you think of nothing they could see through the glass that would give them that idea?

Yeah, I didn't get it.

Did have some fun rocketing into insanity though.

Read article. Peeking Tom Lady calls police to arrest man naked in his home.

Odd aye?

According to my read, the police say they feel he wanted to be seen, and that is why they arrested him.

Odd, since if he really wanted to be seen, he could have picked a better time to get an audience than 5:30 AM wouldn't a rational person think?

As far as the hotel in the Manhattan Meat District, doesn't it have the option of curtains?

I've not been to the City for over 10 years now.

I'd sort of like to see a picture of this place, not to mention old haunts and neighborhoods.

Last time I was down in the Meat District was just as it was becoming trendy. Wonder what it is like these days really.

Back in the late '80s when I was working on films and music videos and commercials in the City, one producer and director would drag us down to the Meat District for shoot segments of Music Videos whenever they got run off some other location, or hadn't permitted enough places.

For all the people that live and work in Manhattan, and stories of how the place supposedly never sleeps, I found it interesting that some areas like the Wall Street District and the Meat District could become right deserted.

They say you can find anything in Manhattan, but I tell you when I was living there it seemed to me that while you maybe could find anything, you sort of had to know what district it might be in.

At anyrate I ought to look for a picture of this building. I wonder if really the only way to voyeur is to use telescopes and binoculars from New Jersey.

I'm inspired to imagine a People Zoo Movie.
