Automatic License Plate Recognition System

Posted February 12, 2007 7:56 AM

From TechEBlog:

The ALPR system consists of "three cameras, they are mounted on the outside of the police squad car: one on the front left directed at oncoming traffic, one on the front right directed at the number two lane or cars parked on the side of the road, and a third mounted on a 90-degree angle on the side for use in parking lots."

Boring BIG BROTHER story...nobody cares as all our freedoms are eroded. We're all TV stars now; 'it's all in you own best interests', etc, etc. More interesting is the number of traffic offences the policeman was committing: 1.) no seat belt, 2.) only one hand on the wheel, 3.) driving without due care and attention while fiddling with the on board TV screen... probably others I'm too tired to notice. Clearly it's ok for a highly skilled driver like him to do all these things; but the rest of us would loose our licences for starters.
