3D for Fun and Profit

Posted April 24, 2010 7:51 AM

Hollywood is making a huge splash with 3D for popular entertainment. In engineering, there are many uses for 3D — prototyping, digital modelling, and coordinating between various design areas, for example. 3D CAD is not new, but tools and features are improving all the time. Are you finding new and useful applications for 3D technology in your field, or do you find the topic to be more hype than substance?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Electrical Components, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Electrical Components today.

Now if the Wii fit had a decent archery game with 3D critters leaping out at you or slinking about in the bushes, maybe the odd politician. I'd be up for it.
Come to think of it, if the darned thing had a decent 2D barebow archery field shooting game....that would do me fine.

It's not 3D or archery, but I enjoy the target shooting game that comes with Wii Play. You can shoot at balloons, cans, aliens, and ducks.
