Reading the article would take the fun out of this, so here are the stages I go through:

1) Oh crap, I've got to remove the dang hard drive, gotta look for a part number and order a hard drive on eBay and wait ...

2) I wonder if I have backups of all the stuff lost? Oh crap ...

3) Oh crap, the hard drive arrived and now I've got to install it and load the operating system. What are those applications I need to reload?

4) Is the hard drive going to crash again in a few days from infant mortality?

5) Life is better now, I actually like purging most of the lost files ...
