Man Steals Electricity with Meat Hook

German police are investigating a man for theft after he siphoned electricity off a high-voltage overhead transmission line for one month with the help of an ordinary meat hook, authorities said on Tuesday.

I love the technical term, "Siphoned".

'A pipe or tube fashioned or deployed in an inverted U shape and filled until atmospheric pressure is sufficient to force a liquid from a reservoir in one end of the tube over a barrier higher than the reservoir and out the other end.'

If we have found a way to siphone electricity, this is a major step forward! We must be close to going down the corner shop and saying "Four kilowatts, please, I've got my bucket, and make sure it's well stamped down...."

This has been done in South America and in the Middle East for many years. It's only of interest because it happened in a non third world location. And as for the official from the power company never having seen anything like this before...He obviously doesn't get out much.
