Bubble Heads?

Posted May 30, 2010 8:09 AM

A Scottish entrepreneur has invented a plastic bubble, the Social Sphere, to wear on your head in noisy bars to make it easier to have a conversation. Should we be wearing them on the streets, too? Are bubble heads the wave of the future? Is the Social Sphere helmet the only way to drown out the din but keep us connected?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Plastics & Resins, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Plastics & Resins today.

Now why would somebody go back to a noisy restaurant to have a meal and conversation? Either the food is so good that it drives people to talk with their mouths full of food. Or that the talker bores the listener so much that a plausible distraction is needed.

Oh if the wife ever figures this one out.....

Dare I say it?

We'd become "bubble headed boobies" (ref Dr Smith, Lost in Space)

Probably be the easiest way to avoid social contact would be to where one in a social gathering, me thinks...

I've got a better idea! If you want to talk, don't go to noisy clubs!!!
