The specials and sport customs of the 1950s are always fascinating, if
not for the racing history and the various personalities that built the
cars, then for the can-do attitude embodied in the cars. Sure,
Chevrolet had the Corvette, and plenty of British and other European
roadsters were available in America at the time, but they obviously
didn't satisfy everybody, leading to sport customs like the Little Jewel and race specials like this 1959 Troy roadster.
From the seller's description:
"This car is a true one-off, the only car ever built. A fantastic design
featuring a carefully handcrafted aluminum body. The car resembles
clearly the European open wheel racers of the 50's with almost no
overhang on the front or back. The drive train is Chevrolet. It carries
a tubular frame and belly pan which spells out racing right there."
