I remember back sometime in the middle 40,s My father holding Me in My pajamas as We watched what probably was the best perseid meteor shower ever. My best guess is that it must have been about 9 pm and the sky looked like the fourth of july. Being so young I was not able to stay up till prime time , which is early, 3 or 4 am. I have always wondered what they looked like in prime time. this was truly an amazing event and I think this is what got Me interested in astronomy.
