Video: Is ArcAttack the Power Industry's Rock Group?

ArcAttack, the technological rock group from Austin, TX, uses 500,000 V Tesla coils as musical instruments. The coils are audio modulated to produce musical melodies. Some of the other equipment, such as the drums, is computer controlled. ArcAttack is deemed by some to be the hero of geeks everywhere, but what do people in the electric power industry think?

In the Power Industry newsletter, where this discussion started, they have links to two ArcAttack videos--this one, and one from America Has Talent, where the TV show edited out the music from the Tesla coils. I didn't realize that the Tesla coils actually generated music, and that it was orchestrated by the guy in the suit.

Pretty amazing stuff. No wonder they are heroes of geeks everywhere.
