It's a typical scenario: you ask the doctor to make you feel better; he or she proceeds to stick you with needles and bombard you with radiation. But a new breed 1of portable devices painless laser beams could use Raman spectrometry to diagnose conditions inside the body and put an end to X-rays and even blood drawing, in just a few years.

I would like to see more said about the 'forecasting' aspect of the story. Love the technology, waiting to see it happen... why five?

And why Could. Why not Must?

Or is this a story for twenty years later.. "could have replaced x-rays within 5 years..." Just do it.
